Give your kitchen an update with L’Authentique

It's the dream of many: a brand-new kitchen where you can cook, bake, and enjoy to your heart's content. Your current kitchen might be functional, but it could also be a bit outdated or no longer entirely to your taste.

Renovating your kitchen can often be a significant investment. You’d probably prefer to spend that money on other things. The good news is that there’s an easier and more cost-effective way to refresh your kitchen – by giving your existing one a makeover. Especially if you’ve recently bought a new house or are in the midst of a renovation, a little care and attention can go a long way. We’ve got 3 top tips for you!

Step 1: Choose Your Color

No tiles on the kitchen backsplash? Painting it is a perfect option to give your kitchen a striking makeover in no time. By choosing a color that deviates from the current one, you’ll create an entirely new experience. Dare to pick a color that suits you best and don’t forget to enjoy the process. Painting can be a delightful pastime!

L’authentique’s matte wall paint is easy to clean, making it suitable for any kitchen. We recommend using our two-component lacquer or Sealer as a finish on top of the matte wall paint to protect the wall from stains.

Step 2: Turn Your Kitchen Countertop into an Eyecatcher

The kitchen countertop often serves as the focal point of your kitchen. It’s no wonder that it’s more frequently replaced or repainted than other components.

If you have a small kitchen, a light-colored countertop works best. Light colors can visually expand the space. Once you’ve applied the paint evenly, you can finish the countertop with our L’Authentique Waterproof Stucco.

Start by thoroughly degreasing the kitchen countertop and then rinse it with clean water. Sand the surface and dust it off well. Now, you can begin applying the first layer of Waterproof Stucco Primer and let it dry for at least 12 hours. After that, apply the second layer of Waterproof Stucco Primer and let it dry for at least 6 hours. Now it’s time to apply the Waterproof Stucco texture thickly, ensuring the entire surface is covered. This layer takes about six hours to dry, after which you can lightly sand the surface. Next, apply the second layer of waterproof stucco with a scraping motion. Once it’s dried, you can lightly sand the kitchen countertop and finish it with a 2-component lacquer. The end result? The eyecatcher of your kitchen.

Step 3: Give Attention to the Kitchen Cabinets Too

Painting a kitchen cabinet can completely transform your kitchen. Besides the kitchen countertop, the kitchen cabinets often catch the eye when you walk in, as they occupy a significant portion of the area.

If you want to paint already painted kitchen cabinets, it’s best to degrease them thoroughly, rinse with clean water, and then lightly sand with grit 80 and 120. You can fill holes from handles, let them dry, and then finish with a primer.

Now, the cabinet doors are ready to be painted in two coats with matte, semi-gloss, or high-gloss paint. Once the paint is dry, you can either reattach the same handles or choose new ones to create a different look. If the kitchen cabinet doors are smooth, a layer of waterproof stucco is an excellent option. Follow the same procedure as with the countertop.
